eBay Video

We talk a lot about how video can optimise your eBay listings here at Frooition. Video will not only improve your eBay listings health score in terms of visibility, but it also acts as an incredible conversion enhancer. This is a fact supported by many of our clients who tell us they have seen a 15 to 30% uplift in conversions when adding video to their eBay listings.

Video Has Changed

Video used to be expensive and difficult to produce. This fact meant that video was somewhat out of reach of most small business sellers on a platform like eBay. However, as with so many other things in our lives, the smartphone changed everything.

Everyone now carries all equipment to film, edit and distribute good quality video footage in their pockets. In fact, the video quality on smartphones has improved so much in recent years; films shot entirely on mobile devices regularly feature at international film festivals and in TV broadcasts.

Social media channels like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram have also changed people’s perception of what is acceptable in terms of video footage. Online video doesn’t have to offer a cinematic experience. In fact, a highly polished video production may lack the level of authenticity that is so valued on social media. When making video content, the moral of the story is don’t let perfection be the enemy of the good.

Reuse, Recycle and Re-appropriate Your Video Content

Video really is the gift that keeps on giving. Whenever you invest time and (potentially) money in video production, you’ll want it to be seen by as many people as possible. This means you should never produce video content exclusively for your eBay listings.

With a bit of thought and planning, your video footage can be used across multiple social channels.

When you reuse, recycle and re-appropriate your video content on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and please, never forget, YouTube, you create the potential to reach millions of new potential customers.

Remember: YouTube is the second biggest search engine in the world. As part of the Google family, YouTube is also a potent SEO tool, driving traffic back to your eBay listings or eCommerce store.

Use Video to Solve Your Customers’ Problems

The best video tells a story and tries to solve a particular problem for your customers. For example, a retailer selling power tools might want to demonstrate how a specific tool can be used to perform various tasks. Similarly, a fashion seller might want to show how a garment can be worn or accessorised and moves when worn by a model.

The best video producers will want to use their videos to raise their profiles to become thought leaders in their particular industry.

However, if the thought of appearing on video fills you with dread, there are other options. For example, a 360 Spin Video is a great way to showcase your products beyond the standard images you use to showcase your products in your eBay listings.
