The why

The catalogue is what keeps people where they are

Ask a seller why they are still on a tool they have outgrown and the answer is almost never that they like it. It is that everything they have built is inside it.

Years of work live in the listing data

Descriptions refined by hand. Item specifics researched one category at a time. Photography. Compatibility data. Titles that took three attempts to get right. None of it is quick to recreate and all of it is easy to underestimate.

Re-keying is not a migration

A few thousand listings entered by hand is not a switching cost, it is a year. So the decision gets deferred, and deferred again, until it stops being a decision at all.

Which makes the catalogue the lock-in

Not the contract, not the price. Sellers stay with tools they have outgrown because leaving costs more than staying hurts - and the tool knows it.

And it cuts the other way too

When a provider closes, sellers who never had an export route find out what “your data lives in our tool” actually meant. InkFrog’s closure in June 2026 made that concrete for a lot of people.

So ask your current provider one question: can I export everything, today, without asking anyone? If the answer takes more than a sentence, that is the real switching cost - and you are paying it whether you move or not.

Read this before you assume

Import is not sync. They are different products.

Shopify appears on this page as an import source - a way to bring a catalogue across. That is not the same as keeping two platforms continuously in step, and we would rather draw the line ourselves than let you discover it later.

ImporteBay Catalogue Import moves a catalogue from Shopify or BigCommerce into eBay. Run it once, or run it again when you have new products.
SyncKeeps Shopify and eBay matched continuously as stock and prices change. That is FrooSync, a separate product.
Where FrooSync standsFrooSync is currently delivered manually while Shopify App Store approval is pending. It is not an automated live sync today. If continuous automated sync is what you need, ask us where approval has got to before you buy anything.

No import maps everything perfectlyPlatforms model products differently. Expect to check the mapping and tidy afterwards; that is normal, and far shorter than retyping.

A familiar shape

The quote that never gets accepted

A seller has been on the same listing tool for six years. It is slow, the templates look like 2018, and support takes a week. They know all this.

They get a quote to move. The quote is fine. The quote is not the problem.

The problem is the four thousand listings, and the quiet arithmetic that says moving them by hand is three months of someone’s life. So the quote sits in an inbox, and next year the tool is still slow and the templates still look like 2018.

Nobody stays because they are happy. They stay because the catalogue is heavy.

What can I import from?

eBay Catalogue Import accepts a CSV file, your own live eBay listings, or exports from Shopify, BigCommerce and InkFrog. Export runs the same way in reverse, so your catalogue can leave as well as arrive.

How many listings can I import?

eBay Catalogue Import is free for up to 1,000 listings, up to 10,000 with Boost Basic, and above that we quote it case by case.

Does this keep Shopify and eBay in sync?

No - that is a different product. eBay Catalogue Import brings a catalogue across; FrooSync is continuous synchronisation, and FrooSync is currently delivered manually while Shopify App Store approval is pending. If continuous automated sync is what you need, ask us where approval has got to before committing.

Is there still a free InkFrog migration?

No. That offer ran and has closed. The InkFrog CSV import inside eBay Catalogue Import is live and works - the capability stands, the offer does not.

Will everything come across intact?

With eBay Catalogue Import, most of it comes across, and not perfectly. Different platforms model products differently, so plan to check the field mapping and tidy afterwards. Import a small sample first and look at what arrived before you run the whole catalogue.

Can I get my catalogue back out?

Yes. Export is part of eBay Catalogue Import - no request, no ticket. We think a tool you can leave is a tool worth trusting, and we would rather say so than hope you never ask.

What can I do once it is in?

Everything the rest of the toolkit does. Apply a listing design across the imported set, run a bulk revision on it, or scan it with the Listing Optimiser to find the gaps it arrived with - that scan is free.
