The core mechanics are similar on both marketplaces — a final value fee charged on the total amount the buyer pays, plus a small per-order fee — but the details diverge in ways that catch sellers out:
- VAT: UK business sellers pay 20% VAT on top of the final value fee. There’s no equivalent on the US side.
- Fee caps: the UK has a final value fee cap of £250 per item for business sellers in most categories — US sellers don’t get an equivalent cap.
