BigCommerce Click and Collect

Leading eCommerce platform BigCommerce has announced the launch of a new Click & Collect feature, giving enterprise merchants more options to meet shoppers where they are and provide frictionless shopping experiences.

According to BigCommerce, Shoppers increasingly expect flexible fulfilment options, including the growing segment of shoppers who don’t want to wait for delivery or wish to avoid shipping costs by selecting in-store pick-up.

How Big is the Click & Collect Opportunity?

Click and Collect services boomed during the Covid-19 pandemic and continue to grow in the “new normal.”

In-store collection is projected to grow about 10% per year in the UK and exceed $40 billion in 2026, according to eMarketer. The growth rate is similar in the United States, where Buy Online, Pick-up In Store (BOPIS) is projected to surpass $131 billion in 2026.

It’s also worth remembering click and collect services create opportunities for additional in-store purchases, creating extra revenue streams for the retailer.

Click & Collect Functionality

BigCommerce’s new feature includes a set of new and updated APIs that provide merchants with the tools to create custom Click & Collect/BOPIS experiences that can be tailored to their buyers’ preferences and integrated into their overall strategy for order fulfilment.

Enterprise merchants with multiple retail outlets can manage multi-location inventory Click and Collect functionality.

This release features a set of new APIs, including:

  • New Inventory API to manage inventory across locations
  • New Pick-up Methods API to create and manage pick-up methods per location
  • Updated APIs, including Checkout SDK, Checkout S2S API, Storefront GraphQL, Orders API, and Catalog API updated to support Click & Collect

OmniChannel Evolution

Speaking to journalists, Meghan Stabler, senior vice president of marketing at BigCommerce, said, “To stay competitive and grow, brands need to meet their customers where they are and make it easy for them to purchase and pick up their items. With this latest evolution of our omnichannel offering, BigCommerce makes it easy for merchants to offer Click & Collect to their customers and coordinate orders and inventories across branded sites, social, search, marketplace, and brick-and-mortar channels – all through the BigCommerce platform.”
