From June 29th eBay will require product identifiers to list to certain categories.

Product identifiers are unique Ids for particular products, for books this is an ISBN, for motor parts it is known as MPN (manufacturer part number) and other products are known as GTIN.

The product identifier is not only unique to a product but will also be unique to an edition of a product (e.g. if it is a special edition DVD it would have a different number to the regular edition).

Which categories are affected?

The following categories will require a product identifier for new or manufacturer refurbished products:

  • Baby
  • Books
  • Business & Industrial (Test, Lab, and Office Equipment)
  • Cameras & Photo
  • Cell Phones & Accessories
